The Dutch‐English folk pop band Southern Sunrise are back with their second release of 2013, after the successful release of their debut EP Brighton.
The above‐mentioned debut record led to national and regional airplay, a live performance on Dutch Radio 1 during the popular program ‘Met Het Oog Op Morgen’ and a string of shows throughout the UK and the Netherlands. Southern Sunrise played live in the main hall of Paradiso Amsterdam and at the Bruis festival in Maastricht with a.o. Miles Kane, Kitty Daisy & Lewis and Mister & Mississippi. The band also played established Dutch venues like Mezz Breda, Tivoli Oudegracht and the Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen as special guests for golden record winner Ozark Henry and winner of the 2012 edition of ‘De Beste Singer-Songwriter Van Nederland’, Douwe Bob.
Now Southern Sunrise are ready for their second release of the year, their new single ‘Elspeth’. The song is recorded in the spiritual home of the blues‐rockers from DeWolff, the analogue Electrosaurus Southern Sound Studio in Utrecht, and is produced by DeWolff frontman Pablo van de Poel. The single has a nice, warm tape-sound to it, which you can’t find anymore in a lot of modern pop songs. To finish this sound, the song has been mastered by Adam Nunn (a.o. Mumford & Sons and Nick Drake) in the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.
